Nokia 5.1 has become the latest smartphone from HMD Global to get the much-awaited Android 9.0 Pie update and while Nokia 5.1 users will be able to use features such as the dark mode, adaptive battery and brightness, accessibility menu, new gestures, app actions and more, the update will be made available over-the-air (OTA). This means that the company has started rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update for Nokia 5.1 users, it will be made available in batches.
On the other hand, you can try manually triggering the Android 9.0 Pie update on your Nokia 5.1 by going to Settings > About Phone > System updates. It should be noted that the Nokia 5.1 smartphone was launched in 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo and it retails for Rs. 10,999 in the country.
Nokia 5.1 specifications and features
The Nokia 5.1 sports a 5.5-inch FHD+ display with 1080×2160 pixels resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under-the-hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio P18 (MT6755S) chipset clocked at 2GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable up to 128GB with microSD.
While the Nokia 5.1 runs Android 8.0 (Oreo) OS out of the box, it is upgradable to Android P in the coming future. For optics, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED Flash and PDAF while at the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens.
While there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, the Nokia 5.1 also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB 2.0 support and more. On the other hand, connectivity options include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS + GLONASS. The whole package is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
